School trip to "Fira Santa Llucia" - BCN

Last December 2010, the new coming students from Aula d’Acollida  travelled to Barcelona to know its Christmas traditions, such as the ”Fira de Santa Llúcia” (Saint Llucia Christmas Fair) walking through its most traditional streets and places.
video
Santa Llúcia Fair (Fira de Santa Llúcia) is one of the most beautiful Catalan traditions and it is celebrated every year during the month of December.
This traditional Christmas fair counts with over 270 stalls on Avinguda de la Catedral (in front of Barcelona’s Cathedral) selling nativity figures, Christmas trees, craft items and friction drums - zambombas.

This Fair offers you the chance to find small and nice details to decorate your house to welcome Christmas time.

Part of these details include the local and traditional figures “el caganer” o “el pixaner”.

HALLOWEEN 2010

video
Halloween comes from "All Hallow Even", the eve (night before) All Hallows day.
Therefore, Halloween is the eve of All Saints Day.
The Celts believed that 31st October night the barriers between our world and the spirit world were at their weakest and therefore spirits could be seen on Earth.
They built bonfires to frighten the spirits away, and  danced around them. The fires brought comfort to the family souls in purgatory and people prayed for them.

"The Beauty and the Beast"

Last wednesday (May, 12nd), our 2nd ESO students attended to "La Vicentina" in order to see a play based in the famous tell "The Beauty and the Beast".

The performance was full of surprises: songs, dancers, espontaneous contestants in a Beauty Contest in the castle, etc.
There was an exited "feedback" with the actors.

The students prepared the vocabulary and plot in the classroom, so it made possible to understand better the play.
All the students had a good time there.
